Welcome to the home page of the U.S.S. Ganymede, NCC-80107. We are an online correspondence chapter based in Lynchburg, Virginia. We are affiliated with STARFLEET International, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation chartered in the State of North Carolina, United States of America. Though we are a social and educational group, we neither hold nor seek tax-exempt status through the IRS. We are member-supported. Our finances are independent of STARFLEET and its local multi-state sub-group, Region One.

Online correspondence chapters of STARFLEET differ from meeting chapters. Their regular meetings are on the Web rather than face-to-face. This allows members to live anywhere with Internet access. It avoids the time and travel costs associated with commuting to and from meetings.

Correspondence chapter members serve, earn rank, hold duties, may hold chapter, Regional and STARFLEET offices and may participate in STARFLEET Regional and International Conferences, just the same as members of meeting chapters.

Knowledge workers at all levels and from all fields of science and technology, creative artists and science/technology enthusiasts are invited to join our crew. See our Projects.

U.S.S. Ganymede launched September 29, 2008 with the support of the USS Heimdal, NCC-1793, a Federation Galaxy-class heavy cruiser. U.S.S. Ganymede was commissioned as a  long-range exploration cruiser of the Federation Luna class June 29, 2009, becoming a fully-accredited affiliated chapter of STARFLEET.
